The Buildy Award jury was impressed that the design team started from scratch to reconsider how a conservatory or greenhouse uses 21st Century technologies. The team came up with a combination of features that reduced winter heating costs by half and completely eliminated summer cooling costs. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture, home of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Portrait Gallery, in Washington, D.C.
