Mary Sue Sweeney Price to be awarded 2010 Katherine Coffey Award

The Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums (MAAM) is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2010 Katherine Coffey Award, MAAM’s highest honor. The Coffey Award is given each year by the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums to an individual in the Mid-Atlantic region to recognize distinguished achievement in the museum field.
Mary Sue Sweeney Price works for the Newark Museum, serving as Director and CEO since 1993. Price has been with the museum since 1980, during which time she has been responsible for curatorial, exhibition, and educational programming functions, strategic planning, and coordinating a massive facility renovation. She has been an active peer reviewer for AAM’s standards and excellence programs, and held leadership roles in AAMD, the Newark Arts Council, ArtTable, and local civic organizations.
Of her work for museums, Price says: ”I feel incredibly lucky to have ended up in a career which I believe in.” Learn more about her work.
